Hamptworth Lodge, constructed in 1912 – New Forest, Hampshire
The Problem
1 After sweeping flues and carrying out CCTV survey inspections it was revealed that several flues were without any lining and large gaps within these flues were visible due to old age.
The Challenge
2Two flues failed the smoke evacuation test, large steel gathers had to be manufactured and the decision was made to re-line using RWV FuranFlex®.
The Result
3FuranFlex® was installed within a day (arrived on site at 8:00am / left site at 15:30pm) and all other works completed within 3 days (sweeps and general fireplace repairs).
Isle of Wight Council office – Isle of Wight
The Problem
1 Toast had to investigate and survey the 25 metre flue that serviced 2x large commercial condensing boilers. The flue was leaking badly through the chimney walls due to the amount condensate caused by the boilers.
The Challenge
2Three metres had to be reconstructed to the chimney and a 28mtr 450 diameter black FuranFlex® was installed using 2 FuranFlex® boilers. Due to the stack size we were able to winch the FuranFlex® into position and maintain cross sectional area.
The Result
3New stainless steel pipework was installed from the boilers to the FuranFlex® which now has a suitable valve for collecting and draining the condensate. All works completed within 2 days using a team of 6 operatives.
Environment Agency River Thames – Benson Lock house, Oxfordshire
The Problem
1 Flue for the open fireplace became unsafe and required relining.
The Challenge
2Due to the geography of where the lock house was situated it was a challenge to get all FuranFlex® equipment over the lock bridges from the vans (500 yards).
The Result
3All works were completed within 1 day using a 13mtr long, 200mm diameter RWV FuranFlex®.
Third Floor Apartment, Mayfair – London
The Problem
1 Open gas fire on third floor apartment, leaking into fourth floor apartment above.
The Challenge
2FuranFlex® liner had to be carried five floors to the roof and extra hose from boiler to fireplace had to be made due to the distance from ground floor to third floor apartment.
The Result
3All works were carried out within the day with no disruption to the other apartments in the same building. Due to the nature and value of these apartments no mess was created.
